FAQ
What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata embedded in photos by cameras and smartphones. It includes camera model, settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed), date/time, and sometimes GPS coordinates.
Why does my image show no EXIF data?
PNG and WebP images typically do not contain EXIF data. Screenshots and images shared on social media often have EXIF data stripped. Use original photos from a camera or smartphone for best results.
Does EXIF data contain my location?
It can. Many smartphones embed GPS coordinates in photos by default. This is why social media platforms strip EXIF data when you upload. Check your phone settings to disable location tagging if needed.
Is my photo uploaded to a server when viewing EXIF data?
No. The EXIF data is read entirely in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device.
How do I remove EXIF data from my photos for privacy?
This tool only reads EXIF data. To remove it, convert your image to PNG (which strips EXIF) using our Image Format Converter, or use the Image Compress tool which also removes metadata.
